Steroid Side Effects

There are basically two types of classification for steroids and these are anabolic and corticosteroids. Both the drugs are quite powerful enough and can lead to several steroid side effects that are to be taken seriously. The corticosteroids are those that can help control inflammation in the body as well as for use among asthmatic patients and lupus. These are less publicized than the anabolic one.

The anabolic steroids are quite popular for its potential in building muscle fibers and to prevent their breakdown. This type of drug is popular due to its uses in peak performance in the field of sports.

Steroids for improving body functions

There are two different categories of this drug, one relating to control of some human body reactions while the other helps in the development of muscles. Steroids have become more popular due to their unique property in boosting performance of the athletes in the international sports competitions. These drugs can cause mild to severe side effects.

The anabolic steroids are controlled in some countries and in many of them it needs a prescription from the doctor in order to purchase the same from the medical stores. There are various sports organizations which have their own rigid control over the anabolic steroids. As the corticosteroids are mainly confined within the clinic and are administered for removing medical conditions they are not drugs that are abused.

Further, the corticosteroid drugs do not have similar qualities of enhancing performance for athletes. These can play an effective role for controlling inflammation, asthma and lupus. Steroid side effects can arise out of continued intake of anabolic steroids which help in giving the body stamina and high performance.

There are several instances of young kids getting into the notion that the steroid is good for sports. Yet, many large sports academy had banned the drug for not only its side effects, but that it goes counter to the concept that sports are a level playing field.

Advantages of a power packed body system

The anabolic steroids show improvement on the body in the first few weeks of its consumption. Those who are doing workouts or are lifting weights would immediately realize the power their body has due to the intake of the steroid. However, kids should refrain from using it and should be made to understand its consequences.

There are some startling results for those who have started to take anabolic steroids. Those who are lifting weights would noticeably see their muscles growing and their body taking shape like their own superheroes. Even those people who are weak at running would see significant change in their performance levels. It can bring results in any active sports and can bring the body aligned with the objective of winning the game.

Steroid side effects are not good and can create life long problems in spite of good medical attention when the symptoms are seen to emerge. One reason for this is that the anabolic steroid resembles the chemical structure of testosterone. The testosterone is the body’s own natural sex hormone and is remarkable enough in that it gives the body the male characteristics. The hormone is powerful and enhances the quality of male muscle structures, deepening of voice and facial hair growth. It is also plays a prominent role in developing the male body from that of a young child to the age of puberty.

The anabolic steroid stimulates the same action and enhances these functions even more and thereby the body becomes more showy and energetic. In spite of this the negative effects are also enormous if the drug is not taken with the advice from the doctor. In many cases the drug which was supposed to bring about a unique male figure sometimes reverses the whole picture altogether. These can even result in stunted growth for those taking the steroids for a long time on frequent basis.

Steroid side effects – the list is endless

In a previous post, I have talked about d-mannose side effects. There are mild to severe adverse reaction of the human body to steroids. One such effect is that especially in males this can lead to impotence and sexual problems later during the life. Even the quality of sperm produced in the testicles is bad and therefore they fail to fertilize properly with the eggs. The continued intake of steroids can even reduce the size of the testicles.

Females who use this steroid can also face some of its side effects. This could be problems connected with their menstrual cycle. The drugs affect the ovaries by disrupting the proper maturation and release of eggs from the ovaries. This can lead to long-term problems in fertility.

Apart from the above during the teenage there is a great tendency to try out new forms of drugs of which steroid is one. Yet for those wanting a beautiful muscular figure it causes the bones to mature rapidly and then suddenly stop growing at a very early stage. Then there are cases of liver tumors, abnormal enlargement of heart muscle and violent behavior. Woman can see male types of growth in their body particularly in relation to the hair growth. This can be embarrassing when there is a deepening voice to match it. Development of acne and increased breasts in males are some of the other steroid side effects.
